Attention selection and shifting – (Posner)
Welcome to the Posner training exercise that trains your disengagement and refocus onto altering tasks. This alternating revolves around shifting your focus between grasping quick differences between 2 variables and being able to scan the difference or whether they’re the same variable. Its shifts between 2 categories, (for now,) where you are to decipher if they are on the same physical property – both Arabic or roman numerals, or both obtain the same value regardless of the numerals they’re placed in. Your job is too able to scan and identify if they’re the same or vice versa in a strict time frame, as you answer you will shift from physical properties to number values, continuously with no warning.
By training Posner, you will experience formidable benefits that are present within attentive tasks, Such as: reading, coding, attention switching, mathematical thinking. These tasks will serve you a proper warm up to then later commence those activities at their optimal performances.
IMPORTANT, READ BEFORE TRAINING!
- For maximum output benefit, be sure to train approximately 10-15 minutes, about 3 to 5 times every week.
- Pro tip: engage after physical training and before a work immersion session, this will
- Accuracy must exceed at least 80% to ensure consistency and proper exertion, as too low will showcase fatigue and inconsistent input, while too high will showcase ease in the training.
- Don’t rush or jump difficulties, weave your way through each difficulty to get the best experience for your level.
- If irritated/impatient, STOP and rehabilitate with short breathing sessions, then come back and focus.
- always fixate at the center of the screen between both variables for proper peripheral scanning.
- Controls are, select F, (different variables,) or J, (same variables.)
After training, take notes of the following performance factors.- Accuracy / %
- Average reaction time m/s (when correct)
Average reaction time m/s (when incorrect)- invalid cue cost speed (speed from shifting focus on the wrong answer to the correct one for the variables)
- Calm rating after each drill, 0-10 (the higher, alongside accuracy, the better chance you’ll have in prevailing the next level)
Game mechanics:- You will be progressed if achieved higher than 90%
each level will increase in difficulty in how fast the variables are presented.
Levels range from Beginner-novice – intermediate- advanced – expert – insane – elite – GOD- Center fixation, buttons – left F, right J- 2 variables on both left and right, distinguish whether different (F) or same, (J).
Results logging:- Session | Accuracy | Average RT | Confidence Level | Notes
log your number of sessions | accuracy score | Average RT | Confidence levels | and journaling of your progress.
Pro tips:
recommended to progress if you maintain a higher accuracy than 90%- with a calm rating of 8/10 or more.
- set the difficulties to where you are maintaining a 5-7 calm level and lower than 90% accuracy. This serves challenging your current limitations, to once they’re reaching boundaries of consistency you can hereby definitely proceed to the next level with absolute progress.
